Application Design of Adjustable Speed Drives:

Adjustable speed drives save energy by operating alternating current (AC) electric motors at speeds slower than that constant speed for which they are designed. Some machine drives do control speed with devices such as gears or adjustable belt pulley drives, but they may be quite inefficient. Adjustable speed drives actually change the characteristics of the electricity powering the motor, which changes the speed that the motor rotates. This is usually much more efficient than conventional control of machine output.

Dynamic Balancing:

Dynamic Balancing is the answer to one of today’s most important engineering problems. With today’s high operating speeds, even small amounts of unbalance can cause dangerous vibration often resulting in mechanical failure and expensive down time. An unbalanced rotating part may appear to be quite harmless at rest, yet under the influence of centrifugal forces giving rise to vibration, this same rotating part may present difficult problems and, in fact, may become highly dangerous.

Critical Shaft Alignment:

Proper alignment saves on coupling elements, bearings and seals. Your equipment will run longer with fewer emergency repairs. Amp draw on an electric motor is actually lower following an alignment. You can save enough on electricity, replacement parts and downtime to easily justify the cost of an alignment system. Benefits of alignment are:

Reduce forces on bearings to insure longer bearing life
Minimize the amount of shaft bending
Reduce power consumption from 2 to 17%
Lower vibration levels in machine casings, bearing housings and rotors
Vibration Analysis:

Vibration analysis monitors equipment while it is operating and can detect many different problems thereby eliminating unnecessary periodic maintenance. Servicing is performed only when needed. Use of this analysis method prevents catastrophic failures and allows more effective planning and scheduling of maintenance work.
