Division of Assets
Description
There are many financial considerations when couples are divorcing or separating, especially with the new changes under BC's Family Law Act.
The biggest change to Division of Assets encompasses a few areas, property value acquired before a marriage or relationship is excluded from property division, however increase in property value can be divided equally. Specific types of properties may be excluded from the property division and there are no distinctions between common-law spouses (2 years or more) and married spouses.
At Deborah Todd Law, we can help you navigate through this trying time, we work very hard at negotiating a fair and equitable division for both parties while maintaining a professional and respectful atmosphere.
