About Us

It all started when I was nine months old In 1963.

As my Dad (Larry) put it.................. "I used my holiday pay of $68 to purchase some paint brushes, and 3 feet of half-inch wood doweling, to fashion a mahl stick", and started Houston Signs Ltd.  here in Victoria. "I served my sign painting apprenticeship locally with Mannix Sign & Displays, and along with Pacific Neon. " When I first started my own business, I worked out of a single vehicle garage in our home for the first four years."

Houston Signs grew with the industry, graduating from PAINTED SIGNS into the ELECTRIC SIGNS field. In 1981, I sent my son (Dan) to Wisconsin to learn about 'neon', this soon became the backbone of our business. Neon and computers took over our business in the 90's and when the hand-craft of sign writing faded out, so did I. 50 years later with a fleet of 5 service vehicles, 9 employees and the ever changing new technology of equipment, Houston Signs remains a driving force in the sign industry on lower Vancouver Island.

We are CSA approved manufactures of every style of illuminated sign in the industry.

From Design, to manufacturing Houston Signs prides itself in the capabilities of all of it's staff. 

We specialize in all types of signs. everything is built here on the premises. There are departments for each type of sign construction ranging from Custom design vinyl to board signs to illuminated electric signs, Digital printing and vehicle Identification, We do it all. 

My Dad's $68 dollar investment in 1963 has provided a pretty substantial return rate with respect to Houston Signs success. And we hope to continue this success long into the future.
